Don’t you just love our club?

                                  The Voice of Wales Speaker’s Club                                  

Does not meet in a hotel or a pub

We meet at The Session’s House, Usk

Fortnightly, just after dusk

It pays to get there early

To join the hurly burly

Don’t you just love our club?

A wave or smile, no matter how fleeting

Is a really friendly kind of greeting

Have a good laugh and a chat

Now…that’s enough of that !

You pause – and frown

The gavel’s just come down!

Don’t you just love our club? 

The Sergeant at Arms offers a greeting

That signifies the start of the meeting

He will introduce our host

The Toastmaster, who usually speaks the most

We will be advised of our limits

Speakers - you have three, four or five minutes 

Don’t you just love our club?

You can present your point of view

A idea, a joke or two

You can be risqué or even daring

But just remember, absolutely no swearing

Thank goodness for that red light

Some of you will talk all night

Then there’s nothing more to say

Just time to clear up and all go away

I am sure our judges will all see

We will try our best to ‘Be or not to be’

We are tutored by our master

She saves us from disaster

I am sure you will all agree
